It's been a tough week, taking part in NaNoWriMo. Week two blues hit, along with numerous issues and other things that took up my writing time. I missed my 30,000 total goal which I aimed for last week. However, that does not mean goals cannot be modified. With the day 15 halfway point goal of twenty-five thousand words coming up, I shot for it, and got it a day early, finishing Day 14 with 25,342. By the time I had slowed down enough to let go of the keyboard, just after midnight, I coasted down to a stop at 25,480.

I've written overall less this week due to two disastrously low output days, but I'm still ahead by a whole day. After my disastrous output on Friday and Saturday, I decided not to overshoot, so 30,000 was out of the question, but still aim for a target that would present some serious difficulties, so the 25K mark was a better one to aim for. I've had some ups and downs, highs and lows, but when I have been writing, I've really got into the swing of things, much more than in Week 1. The sprint to midnight on Day 14 to come in a whole day early to the halfway mark was particularly fun. In the process, I have also had my most productive day yet, with over 3,000 words written on Day 14.
There's also something to be said for overcoming the halfway point like this, getting over a major psychological barrier. After all, I'm more than half way there, past the point of no return, so I might as well go on to the end, eh?
I could slow down now, but I don't plan on it. I'm going to still aim for the daily target of 2,000 words and see where that takes me.
In the meantime, here's a BRILLIANT song that sums up the NaNoWriMo experience.
